Mother's Day Sale!

Friday, 30 April 2010 21:41

My mother is a poem
I'll never be able to write,
though everything I write
is a poem to my mother.
~Sharon Doubiago

I hope we're all ready for Mother's Day, dear readers (Sunday, May 9th, if I'm throwing you for a loop!) Down at Moxie we're having a sale to honor the women who raised us (and in honor of you, who will probably need to get a Mother's Day gift.) From May 4th through the 9th, everthing in the store* will be on sale for 20% off! It doesn't even have to be for your mom, we promise! But while you're here, why not check some mom-friendly favorites like Freshy Fig lockets (put your picture inside!), Little Lily Scrabble pendants, bird's nest rings by Subtle Charm, a Matt by Matt & Nat diaper bag for new mommies and so very much more! Hope to see you here!

The Hippy Hippy Shake

Wednesday, 28 April 2010 20:23

As with most trends, dear readers, tie dye has come back around again. Proenza Schouler, Calvin Klien and Ports 1961 all had my favorite 60's throwback parading around the spring runways. Needless to say, we here at Moxie are right on top of it! We know that adding a funky print into your wardrobe can make or break it; we're here to make sure it doesn't break it.

But how to wear such a print? I suggest making it the standout piece of the ensemble, and picking a tie dye with no more than three colors in it. Something like these that mimicks stripes/zebra stripes is a lot more subtle. Keep the rest of your outfit to solid colors, no more hippy accents (peace signs, headbands across your forhead, bellbottoms, etc.), slap on a pair of (duh) TOMS and a scant few accessories and consider yourself all the more groovy for it.

Similar style tops from Kersh are available at Moxie!

Let's hear it for the boys!

Saturday, 03 April 2010 18:25

I've always found that, in terms of dressing, I'm very happy to be a woman. I always thought men's clothes were boring, unless women were wearing them. A few variations on pants and shirts and not much else. But in this post-metrosexual age (I've always hated that word), the Everyday Male has more confidence in his options: more colors, cuts, prints and even the occasional "man-cessory." While surfing through Nerd Boyfriend for some sartorial inspiration, I came across some great photos of the likes of Ed Sullivan and Peter O’Toole (left), Grandmaster Flash and Fab 5 Freddy (middle), and Jon Huston (right) all well-dressed and, dare I say it, snappy. But none of them look overdressed or like they're trying too hard. And with the current popularity of wingtips, brogues, ties, fedoras, porkpies and all-around dapper dressing, finding snazzy clothes is a possibility at any price point.

So take a look, let these men inspire you, and for cryin' out loud, put on a hat!
